One of my new year focuses is to listen to more music - reconnect with the songs I love, and seek out new music as well. So you'll be a seeing lyric-based self-care Sundays for a while. :) Here's January's roundup!

"Sunday morning I'm waking up, Can't Focus on a coffee cup ... Where do I start? Where do I begin?" -The Chemical Brothers, Where Do I Begin

🎧 Listen with me: https://youtu.be/_91HbYkguwk

Sometimes we don't even know where to start. Where to begin. Picking up the pieces. Starting hard discussions. Committing to needed change.

A new year, but still all the remnants of the last trailing. Goals unaccomplished. Business unfinished. Things unsaid. Feelings unshared.

Where do I start? Where do I begin?

With one breath. One cup of coffee. With a few steps. One sunrise and set. With one greeting. One conversation. With one choice. One vulnerable hug. With compassion. One kind act. With love. Then another. And again.

"And when the broken-hearted people living in the world agree, There will be an answer, let it be ... And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me, Shine until tomorrow, let it be." The Beatles, Let It Be

🎧 Listen with me: https://youtu.be/QDYfEBY9NM4

Like grasping sand, we fail most when we fail to realize the limits of our own control. The limits of our answers and the inescapable cloudy nights.

In those times we still have the sound of music. We still have a chance that they will see. And we have the opportunity to, let it be.

"Running over the same old ground, and how we found, the same old fears." -Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here

🎧 Listen with me: https://youtu.be/hjpF8ukSrvk

Running over the same old ground, we find treasured memories of loves and friends lost, lessons learned and hindsight aplenty. But we also find the same old fears, cages, fishbowls.

There's a time to seek new ground. New experiences. New stories, music, food. New smells, sights, feels. New perspectives, insights, heroes.

The old ground still with us, along the path to new.

"Get rhythm when you get the blues, get rhythm when you get the blues. Get a rock and roll feelin in your bones, put tapes on your toes and get gone. Get rhythm when you get the blues." - Johnny Cash, Get Rhythm

🎧 Listen with me: https://youtu.be/ilN5ggehQXE

Amazing what music can do. Flood our mind with a specific place and time. Sooth an achy heart in that perfectly wonderful way. Enchant our bodies to move, and smile, and bounce.

Chase the blues clean away.
